Software engineer building reliable backend systems.
I work on distributed services, internal tooling, and the unglamorous infrastructure that keeps applications running quietly in the background.
About
I'm a backend-leaning engineer with around a decade of experience across early-stage startups and a couple of larger platforms. Most of my time goes into API design, data storage, and the operational side of keeping systems healthy — observability, deployment, and the slow work of paying down complexity.
Outside of paid work I maintain a few small open-source utilities and write occasional notes about things I've had to figure out the hard way. I prefer boring technology that I can reason about over whatever is trending this quarter.
Selected work
Service gateway rewrite
Replaced an aging request-routing layer with a smaller, well-tested gateway, cutting p99 latency and making rollouts far less stressful.
Event pipeline
Designed and ran an ingestion pipeline handling a few billion events a day, with backpressure and replay so a downstream outage never means lost data.
devkit
A small command-line tool that standardises local environment setup across a team. Boring on purpose, and that's the point.
Writing
